About

The long version.

Melanie Dunn
"My design background is why the work looks the way it does. The marketing chops are why it performs. The systems thinking is why it scales."

the resume version of this bio is on LinkedIn. this is the real one.

I'm Melanie. Ten-plus years in marketing, most of it at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and whatever new technology is about to change how everything works. Right now that's AI, and I'm not just talking about it. I'm building with it.

At Three Seven, I'm building our AI operations process from the ground up: the guidelines, the workflows, the automations that make our whole team more efficient, not just the marketing team. I work primarily in Claude Code, folder structures, and MD files, which is either a very specific skill set or a personality trait. Possibly both.

I started in design and spent 20 years getting very good at it. Marketing came in and layered on top, maybe 10 years in, so these things were never sequential: design thinking and marketing strategy running in parallel for a decade. Now AI is the third layer. I build systems I couldn't have imagined three years ago, and I do it with the same design instinct I had at the start.

I also built Melsplains: AI systems for working moms, built by one. Because the tools I use professionally are genuinely too useful not to share, and the whole point is to get the mental load off your plate so you can spend your energy on what actually matters.

I want to be more focused on helping people and companies reach higher levels of fulfillment by identifying what they can optimize and offload to AI. I don't replace people with AI. I want to help people feel more human. There always needs to be a human in the loop, and we need to do things sustainably and responsibly. I use data to help teams feel more like humans and less like robots.

What I'm good at

No skills matrix. No icon grid. Just what I can actually do.

Systems thinking.

I see processes as interconnected systems. I find where the bottlenecks are, where the handoffs break, and how to build something that actually scales.

Data storytelling.

A dashboard isn't a report. I make the kind that gets opened, acted on, and explained in plain language to whoever needs to understand it.

AI workflow architecture.

Claude agents, prompt libraries, MCP integrations, n8n automations. I architect the system, build it, document it like a human, and hand it off actually working.

Brand strategy.

B2B clients often have the best product in the room and the hardest time explaining it. I close that gap, from positioning through to the words that actually land.

Creative direction.

Twenty years of design thinking doesn't leave you. I bring a visual and narrative instinct to everything, including the stuff that looks like a spreadsheet.

SEO and AI search optimization.

Not keyword stuffing. Positioning work that shows up in search, and now in AI-generated answers, because it deserves to.

Where I work

Three Seven Marketing. Marketing strategist. SEO/AIO lead. Data and reporting. Ohio-based, working with B2B clients across the U.S.

Clients include companies in life sciences, manufacturing, software, and research. I've helped them rank for things that matter, run campaigns that close, and build reporting that shows them why.

The personal part

I'm a working mom in Ohio. I have one son who will be 8. I cook dinner most nights. I plan meals on Saturday or Sunday morning, not Sunday night. I built a whole system around that.

I believe in showing your work, explaining your thinking, and building tools that reduce mental load instead of adding to it. That's what Melsplains is. That's what all of this is.
